Ningxia first test UAV "leapfrog" inspection innovative transmission line operation and maintenance mode
Ningxia News Network (reporter Qi Yingtao) On July 3, the State Grid Ningxia ultra-high voltage company successfully implemented the first unmanned aerial vehicle "leapfrog" inspection in Ningxia. The inspection is an uninterrupted inspection of about 15 kilometers of the 3361 to 3390 tower of the ± 1,100 kV Jiquan Line, marking a major innovation in transmission line operation and maintenance technology in Ningxia.

The total length of UHV transmission lines in Ningxia is about 3,151.055 kilometers, some of which traverse complex terrain and are difficult to inspect. Due to the limitations of endurance and road conditions, traditional UAV inspection needs to be conducted multiple times and in different segments, which is inefficient. To this end, the State Grid Ningxia ultra-high voltage Company actively explores new technologies to solve the problem of line inspection.

"Leapfrog" inspection is a new UAV operation mode. By installing leapfrog airport and photovoltaic power supply system on the line pole and tower, the UAV can choose the nearest "airport" during the task to dock and resupply, thereby reducing the process of returning to the original departure point, and realizing the continuous flight operation of long distance and wide range of scenarios. The application of this mode breaks the "boundary" of the UAV airport, the inspection coverage radius can be increased by 4 times, and the sharing of "one machine, multiple fields and multiple grids" can be achieved, which significantly improves the efficiency of UAV inspection.

As an important part of the national "West-East Power Transmission" project, the safe and stable operation of the Jiquan Line is of great importance to the economic and social development of Hefei and East China. State Grid Ningxia Ultra-High Voltage Company selected Jiquan Line as a "leapfrog" inspection pilot line, aiming to promote the intelligent upgrade of equipment professional management, business and technology, and ensure the safe and stable operation of this "major artery"
At present, the company has pilot-deployed 5 sets of UAVs on towers in important sections of the Jiquan Line, covering 15 kilometers of lines and 30 towers. In the future, more leapfrog airports will be built in batches according to the actual inspection situation, and large-scale deployment of UAV towers on airports will be fully promoted to achieve all-weather coverage inspection of transmission lines. This innovative initiative will inject new impetus into the high-quality development of Ningxia's power grid.
